THE INSTRUMENT RATING

The Instrument Pilot rating allows you a great deal of additional flexibility in your flying. It will allow you to fly in many weather and visibility conditions that you currently can’t fly in as a VFR pilot, and it makes navigating through the complex airspace of the major terminal areas a relatively simple task. You will enjoy a level of confidence in your flying that you cannot attain in any other way.

You will receive quality procedures training conducted on the ground on a computer operated training aid. You will then apply these newly acquired skills in the airplane. This combination will lead to a rapid assimilation of the information and skills necessary to become a competent instrument pilot. The following is a breakdown of the minimum flight time and related requirements along with cost estimates. The actual time and costs will vary due to many variables. • 50 hours of cross country flight time as pilot in command


• 40 hours of instrument flight time


• 15 hours of flight time with an Instrument Instructor – Instrument Dual Flight Time


• FAA Written Examination


• Practical Flight Test


• 3rd Class FAA Medical

Be able to read, write, speak and understand the English Language
